I want to buy a red wine that has a high amount of resveratrol, which I understand is good for the health. What wines should I look for in low to high price ranges?

I normally have a glass of wine or 2 after dinner these days, and I want to make the most of it. I want to find the kind with the most antioxidants in it. i also want it to be palatable, but having antioxidants is my #1 criteria. I liked Pinot Noir [...] I found this spelled several ways on the net and I would like to know the correct spelling. And also helps fight heart disease, lung cancer, and type 2 diabetes and so on as promoted by "Prevention" Magazine" what about the goodness of white wine. I know it probably does not have as much antioxidants as red, but does it have any redeeming qualities? Is it good for us? If so is grape juice as full of antioxidants as red wine? in moderation of course *wink wink The original report on the benefit of resveratrol found that Merlot from Chile had the highest levels, but researchers at Cornell University in New York found that New York State wines also had high levels (see http://www.news.cornell.edu/chronicle/98… ). Unfortunately New York wines are not readily available outside that state, but Chile wines should be in [...] I was reading an article online that said resveratrol was the chemical in red wine that kept your heart healthy. I'm looking on the internet for pills of it, but I would like to know how much is typical in a bottle of red wine to understand which supplements are providing a significant amount. |
